One of the trials of single parenting is a single income living on dual income bills. At first, I was doing great. A good job and inexpensive military base day care.
But then, I got in over my head. I bought a condo, which raised my cost of living by $400/month (and decreased my living space by 1/4). It was the American Dream, so I was determined to do it.
A few months later, I got a new job. A promotion, and raise. Even though my paycheck was increased about $300/month, my job moved off base and day care was increased by $900/month.
I tried to make it work. Some freelance work here, a little business venture there. But, the amount was unsurmountable. So, I am in debt. Big time.
There is a light at the end though. Two kids in school next year, a raise, and my monthly income will be increased by 32%. If I pair that with some strict frugal living, I can be debt free in eighteen months!
So, on my journey, I'll post some of my ideas for other singles to steal for their own dollar stretching. Any tips you might want to share, are very very welcome!
